Work in progress: Bird

Work in progress: Bird

Recently I walked down to my local beach after a huge thunderstorm to find the beach awash with deceased birds and sea life. There was something grotesquely beautiful about the frail carcasses of these birds that were literally gutted from the force of the storm.

The spectacle of twenty sea birds violently thrown up onto the beach half buried in sand and storm debris seemed to reflect my current obsession with death and the body.

The works shown here are a study of the two photographs I took that day.

Drawn in pastel on A4 drawing paper.
