After The Storm – Progress Shots

After The Storm – Progress Shots

Last December (2010) I posted some shots of a deceased Shearwater (Puffinus Tenuirostris) taken at my local beach after a huge storm. Since I took these shots, I’ve been gradually working on a series of sketches and eventual painting based on the photographs I took that day. You can see my original post here.

After about six months of studying the images and making sketches, I began work on the painting which is to be the final installment of this work in progress.  As someone with a background in sculpture and installation, my approach to this work was intuitive, learning the medium as I went, playing and experimenting with the paints as I would with any other project.

It’s taken about two months and I’ve finally completed my work. The canvass measures 915mm x 1820mm and I worked with acrylic paints as my medium.
