In Loving Memory

In Loving Memory

With the COFA Graduation Show opening night over, here are the final images of In Loving Memory. I’ve also included in this post the nine images I used for the installation. Apart from the lack of lighting, I was happy with the finished presentation of my work. The Grad Show had a huge turn out and it was good to see the works of my fellow peer’s and friend’s finished and installed. Special thanks to my photographer, David...
Chair

Chair

Chair was a work that explored the ready-made as a sculptural medium. Using segmented second-hand chairs I explored the spacial relationship between two objects, the chair and the plinth. By sawing and dissecting the chair I removed it’s stability and strength creating a useless object. This work appeared to fuse with the plinth, becoming a single entity reaching out into the space. Chair featured in a group show called Re-present at COFA Space,...
Untitled (Skins)

Untitled (Skins)

Untitled (Skins) is a process-driven work based on a field experiment performed throughout Bondi Junction, Sydney. The field work involved disguising myself within another persona, completely different to my own, and embodying that persona physically and mentally. The work that came from it, Untitled (Skins), is a series of “skins” made from artificial hair (referring to the wig I wore on the day). Each panel is an anotomical representation of the body, the first being a silhouette, the second being the central nervous system and the third being a heart. The images are skewed by the hair, similar to the way that the camouflages or disguises we personify influence how we are viewed by others. Untitled (Skins) featured in Watch This Space, at Kudos Gallery,...
The Fold

The Fold

The Fold is a work made up of cotton thread, MDF and copper. It hangs from the ceiling , the copper base acting as a weight creating tension in the cotton thread. This work explores the folding or containing of space through the manipulation of a the plane using cotton thread. The Fold focuses on the spacial relationship between a seemingly solid surface and the ethereal nature of empty space. The Fold featured in Re-present at COFA Space,...
Surface Tension

Surface Tension

Surface Tension is a work based around the manipulation of materials. This work consists of copper tubing and water. I perforated the copper repetitively with a drill creating hundreds of holes, thus changing the texture and stability of it’s surface, before using a chemical fluid to darken it. The aim of the work as to create a reflection of the copper on the surface of the...
