The art of breaking rules: Terms and Conditions at Nishi Gallery

The art of breaking rules: Terms and Conditions at Nishi Gallery

Canberra’s art scene is fast becoming a fishbowl of creativity, largely due to the Art, Not Apart festival that has become a yearly event featuring works form local and interstate creatives in the NewActon precinct. Last year I exhibited Play With Me at Nishi Gallery for the RED (Rise Exist Demise) exhibition curated by Chloe Mandryk, and I was thrilled to be invited to take part in the show again this year. The excellent thing about Art, Not Apart 2014 is that it’s developed from one single exhibition into an entire festival over the short period of just a year! On Saturday the 15th of March, I had the pleasure of taking part in the fun. Among the excellent creative talent that I got to exhibit along side at Nishi Gallery, there was a scaffold street party, live art, creative stalls, live music, food, terrarium building workshops (!!!!), live performance art and interactive art.  Massive props to David Caffery and Chloe Mandryk, and all others involved in set up and organisation! And special kudos to the creatives featured, it was a great weekend! Terms and Conditions are set by ourselves, directed at each...

Hairless Kitty Has Extra Eyes!

Hairless Kitty Has Extra Eyes!

More progress shots of my project with Qwux! Here is a hairless cat! Here is the backside of the leather (the side that resembles suede) with our template traced onto it. Using the same technique as the dog mask; the back is clipped with bulldog clips to hold the creases in place, as the leather is gradually shaped and dried. **Pro Tip! Use extra leather scraps between the leather and the clip to avoid damage or staining to the surface.** Voilà! The finished product, now ready for painting and a little plastic nose. Stay tuned for more pictures of goodies coming out of the studio!...
